The information below explains how our adoption process works.

Step 1 - Get in Touch with Us
You can get in touch with us in a few different ways. You can contact our Homing Officer directly on 07783 838657. You can drop us an email at stokecats@gmail.com You can click on the Contact Us link available on the main screen or go to the individual pages where the cats are advertised.

Step 2 - Home Visit
A home visit, or as we like to call it, a suitability visit is undertaken to discuss the cats/kittens available for adoption and any specifically that you may be interested in. It is important at this stage for us to ensure that any cat/kitten you may be interested in is suitable to be adopted into your home as not all cats/kittens are suitable for all homes. For example, sometimes we have some quiet/shy cats and kittens who would not be suited to a busy household with lots of small children. Some cats/kittens don't like to be around other animals. During this visit we will also explain the adoption process, answer any questions that you may have and possibly recommend some cats/kittens to you based on your feedback.

Step3 - View the Cats
Once the home visit has taken place and we have confirmed that it is okay for you adopt from us, we will support you in arranging to contact the fosterer of the cats/kittens that you may want to go and see. You will then speak with the fosterer directly, visit the cats/kittens and make a decision on which one to adopt. The fosterer will confirm arrangements for collection day.

Step4 - Collection Day
The fosterer will arrange a convenient date and time for you to go along and collect you cat/kitten. Upon collection, the appropriate adoption fee will be payable. It is important to ensure that you are prepared for your cat/kitten's arrival prior to this day (eg food/bedding/pet carrier/time for your new pet).

Step5 - Advice and Support
If you have any queries after taking your cat home, your first point of contact should be the fosterer. If you are unable to contact the fosterer, you can call our Homing Officer on 07783 838657. Failing that, please contact us via the 'Contact Us' page on this website or call the branch and leave a message.

Step 6 - Follow-up Check/Call
We will contact you within a few weeks of adopting your cat/kitten. This is to ensure that you and your new pet are settled with each other and will provide you the opportunity to ask any other questions that you may have.
